Invoicing quotes

14/03/2024
Currently, the quotes I make for my clients are free of charge. However, more and more often, I find that they are not followed by an order. So, I’m considering charging them. But is it legal?

Yes, except for certain services for which a free quote is mandatory (moving, personal services when the monthly price of the service is greater than or equal to €100 including VAT, vehicle rental, etc.), you can very well invoice your quotes because, for example, their establishment generates significant costs (travel, time spent, in-depth study of the situation, etc.). The cost of the quote is then freely set by you. Of course, you need to let your customers know about this in advance. Otherwise, they would be entitled to refuse to pay.

Note: Often, professionals who charge for their quotes deduct the cost of the quote from the final amount of the invoice when the client makes them work.
